Edward Silverman, M.D.Board Certified Orthopaedic SurgeonHip and Knee Joint Reconstruction

I was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. I studied Biology with a focus on vertebrate physiology in the Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University. While attending medical school at George Washington University, I focused on orthopaedics and musculoskeletal health. I was accepted into Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami for my orthopaedic surgery residency training. At Jackson, I was extensively trained in all of orthopaedics with a focus in orthopaedic trauma, sports and joint replacement. I was especially interested in joint replacement because of its ability to dramatically transform patients’ lives for the better. Arthroplasty (joint replacement) surgery is one of the best surgeries being performed in all of medicine because of its positive impact on a patient’s mobility, pain and quality of life.

After my residency training, I completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction (joint replacements) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Where I was able to train with the leaders in the field of adult reconstruction and gained experience in minimally invasive hip and knee replacements, partial and total knee replacements, complex joint replacements, revision procedures, fractures around joint replacements and management of infected joint replacements.

I consider myself blessed that I, along with my wife and three young children, have developed a practice in robotic total joint reconstruction at Mercy Hospital. In my spare time I enjoy college football, boating, fishing, and spear fishing.
